It’s newsletter time again, so here are the details of events that are going on, upcoming socials and other bits and pieces we think you might be interested in this fortnight!

Events (in and outside of Colchester)

The Essex Book Festival is coming up, and there are LOADS of great events going on, both on and off campus. I’m just going to include a couple here, but the full list is at , where you can also book tickets.

8/3/12 – Alexander McCall Smith, author of the No1 Ladies Detective Agency, talking about new book, The Limpopo Academy of Private Detection at the Lion Walk Unitd Reform Church, Colchester – £8.50 for students
10/3/12 – Luke Wright & Ross Sutherland at the Lakeside Theatre, UoE – £3 for UoE students
16/3/12 – Adrian May and Philip Terry (yep, our very own!), Poetry at Red Lion Books – free, but please book a place!

There are loads and loads more, all over Essex, so do give the website a look! Brochures are also available at the Albert Sloman Library, if there are any left! 🙂


Next Tuesday, we’re teaming up with Red Radio to see The Woman in Black and go to Steak Night at the Playhouse in town. All details are on the facebook event here

Other Interesting Tidbits!

The Rabbit needs music writers, and LitSoc Vice President, Rachel McGrath, is music editor! If you’d like to write about music for the Uni paper, please get in touch with her at

March’s meeting for the BOOKPLATE! Book Club will be on the 5th March. We’ll be discussing The Tigers Wife, and details are here.
